Late in the evening on June 29, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) announced an on 59 popular apps of Chinese origin (TikTok is one of them), invoking interim ban Article 69A of the IT Act of 2000.
The Ministry noted that the banned apps & games were "prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and security of the country."
